“I am an agricultural Technician/Engineer who is currently working with Young’s Equipment in Saskatchewan, Canada. Young’s Equipment is Southern Saskatchewan’s largest Case dealership. They have 8 branches and I am based at the Weyburn branch; 1hour from the US border.”
Moveover Recruitment visited Harper Adams University in Shropshire. They gave a presentation on the opportunities that Canada provided and highlighting some potential employers. One of them was Young’s Equipment which I immediately put my name down.
I moved to Canada in January where there was snow on the ground and really cold. I soon settled in to work and life outside of work. Young’s provided a Condo to rent and later on I bought a car of them to get around in; so i had to get used to driving on the right hand side of the road. Weyburn is a medium sized town with a population of around 11,000. So i’m not completely isolated from civilisation. Regina is the nearest city about 1hr and 15mins away, where there’s plenty to see and do. In the summer Moveover recruitment organised a trip to Banff which is a small town near the Rocky Mountains. While here we carried out several activities including hiking, white water rafting, a bus tour and expedition around some of the Rocky Mountains and ventured ontop of moving Glaciers. Also went out socialising in the evening.
My role is benefiting my career by helping me to understand how things work, what components commonly fail and what process is involved in repairing something which is broke. This role is helping me to develop my three great interests of agricultural engineering, operating machinery, and fixing and maintaining that machinery. Having experience in all three fields will help me to become a knowledgeable all round agricultural engineer. This is my ultimate aim, as I will understand everything from a concept of designing a machine right through to operating the machine. Also there is plenty of training provided on the various equipment. You have the opportunity to work towards a Journeyman as a agricultural technician or heavy duty mechanic. All these things will make me more employable for jobs in the future. Young’s Equipment is a well known dealership with a good reputation which hopefully will stand out on my CV. I enjoy working for Young’s as there is a good atmosphere in the workshop, The MAC and Snapon guy comes every 2 weeks so you don’t need to go far to buy tools. My work colleagues are helpful and friendly. Young’s look after your needs and help you out financially as well.
Moveover Recruitment helped me greatly in securing an interview with Young’s Equipment. Also after I made the move they made sure that I was settled and had no problems. They helped out greatly with immigration. Advising me on what to do and how to fill out some of the forms answering any questions that I had. With Moveover Recruitment there is less to worry about in making the big move. They recommended a flight group for me to fly with. Moveover Recruitment are a friendly organization who go out of there way in trying to secure you a job in Canada.
